Marlin Schrock

Camp Administrator

Testimony

Growing up in a pastor’s family, I heard the gospel story while I was very young and it moved my heart. I was six years old when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. However, I didn’t really understand the aspect of Him being the LORD of my life until I was 18 years old. To this day, I am still working on my relationship with Him. I want to grow closer to Jesus and more deeply intimate every day.

I know the value of teaching the young about the importance giving their lives to Jesus Christ. But I also understand the importance of stressing the lifelong commitment of pursuing that relationship daily. Jesus is worthy of my attention and affection. He is God. The privilege of belonging to Jesus is so much more that I could ever deserve. I can never take it for granted. I want to finish well and please my God.

Past Involvement at PYC

September 1999 I came to camp.  Working in housekeeping and maintenance was the start of the best job I ever had.  As my job evolved over the last 17 years, I have gained many experiences and responsibilities that help me now in my role as the Camp Administrator.  I still say that this is the best job I ever had.  No matter what the position, it is all an opportunity to serve and minister to campers, guests, and other staff.  Penn-York Camp belongs to Jesus.  Employees here work for Him.  The benefits are eternal!

Julie Brubaker

Program Director

Testimony

I've had the awesome privilege of growing up in a Christian family. I knew who God was since I was young but did not get serious about my faith till my early teen years. When I was young my relationship with God was more like me treating Him like a vending machine. I talked to Him when I wanted something. As I got older the more I became aware of my total need for Him. I'm always amazed by how much God pursues me, by how much He loves me. As God reveals this part of His heart to me he shows me how much He loves others, and that I need to love and care for others. People are so important and I want to love people well.

Past Involvement at PYC

I've worked at Penn York for the past three summers, first as a CIT and then two years as a counselor/jack of all trades. I love being a part of how God works through the lives of people that go to camp. I've made lasting friendships while there. Camp is a place where I have seen God work in other staff, campers, and in my own life. I am very excited to be a part of this year’s summer camp!

Hannah Young

Explorer Camp Director

Testimony

I don't remember a time before knowing God, before going to church. God has been a part of my life from the very beginning. I don't have a grand testimony about overcoming obstacles or having a revelation. I have loved God from the very beginning and I have always understood the expectations, I learned how to have the best relationship with God by watching the people around me. I learned how to talk with God and pray at a very young age. I have always prayed that God would never allow me to be comfortable that I would continue to be pressed and grow in who He is. I am currently learning that there is a season for everything, I am learning to understanding that even though I may think I am ready for something new maybe God isn't ready for me to take that step. God still has a job for me to do in the setting I am in now and I need to be patient and listen to His words.

Past Involvement at PYC

I have worked at Penn-York for the last three years. The last two have been exclusively with Penn-York’s Explorer Camp. After working at camp for a few years I have begun to take on more of a leadership role, leading Explorer Camp and even helping to lead the Adirondack trip. During the off season I help camp in any capacity they may need, whether it be in the kitchen or on the challenge course. Camp has taught me so many amazing lessons and helped me to grow into the person that God wants me to be. God has called me to camp and has shown me my passion and my ministry. After helping with Explorer Camp I have realized, their is no other place for me.

sara dejonge

Craft Director

Testimony:

I cannot remember a time I did not know about the love of Christ and have been very blessed to have been raised in a Christian family. Although saved at a very young age, it was not until I was older that I sought to make my relationship with Jesus Christ a part of my everyday life. As a quieter personality I have struggled with wishing I was like someone else. I am learning that God is able to use each of us, just the way He made us, and that I can rest in His plans for me. This season in my life has been full of new opportunities and I am thankful for God’s direction in big and small things.

Past Involvement with Youth:

Working with children is something I have always enjoyed. I have done quite a bit of babysitting and have volunteered with various activities such as VBS, homeschool coop, and religious ed programs. During college I have been in Montessori classrooms and have also

worked with foreign students. In the fall, I will be working more with foreign transfer students in language areas, and this is something I am super excited about! I have an associate’s degree in Adolescent Development.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I have been working at PYC for several summers. I began as a CIT and later a Counselor. This summer I will be on staff as the Craft Director. I am looking forward to working in an environment I love, where I will be able to do some teaching. Artistic expression always creates a unique opportunity for sharing ideas and stories and I am excited about the possibilities for connecting with campers and sharing Christ in new and meaningful ways

Jed Gehman

Challenge Director

Testimony

I was very blessed growing up to be a part of a family where both of my parents loved Jesus and were devoted to him. Because of this, I became a Christian at a very young age. However, it was during my early teen years that I began to surrender my life to Jesus, and understand what it means to allow the Holy Spirit to guide my decisions. Since then, doing life with Jesus has been an incredible adventure that I wouldn’t want to trade for anything else. I love Jesus, and look forward to serving Him the rest of my life.

Past Involvement at PYC

I have been involved at camp for quite a while. I would come as a camper every summer way back to where I can’t even remember. In 2011, Penn-York Camp hired me as a Counselor in Training, and that is when I realized just how much I enjoyed serving in ministry at PYC. It was also, during that year that I was introduced to the challenge course, and began to learn how to facilitate and belay on the challenge course. The following two years, I worked during the summers as a counselor for camp, and began taking camp’s yearly challenge course certification. This allowed me to help facilitate at all levels on our challenge course, and put me on call for any guest groups who schedule a day on camp’s challenge course. The more I worked on the challenge course, the more I enjoyed it. It is always a blast to work with a group of people, and see the progression from not being able to work very well as a team on the Low Elements to being able to function quickly and efficiently by the end of the day. Or on the High Elements, to encourage someone to push their comfort zone, and see how rewarding it is for them to be able to complete an obstacle that they didn’t believe was possible. In 2014 camp contacted me to offer me the job of Challenge Director. I accepted, and have been working in the position at camp ever since. I thoroughly enjoy working on the challenge course, and am looking forward to another great year.

kayle lewis

Counselor

Testimony:

I grew up with a fairly rough childhood, in a “Christian” home that really only acted Christian on Sundays when we went to church. There have been many pivotal moments in my life that have helped shape my journey with God that would take far too much time and space. However, I can without a doubt say that God has done some beautiful work in my life, when I didn’t think it could be beautiful or worthy. Being a junior in college, God has definitely been showing me a lot lately. One of the biggest things I have been learning is perseverance and patience. With many changes coming and incredibly busy schedules, God has shown me the importance of waiting and persevering with priorities.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I absolutely have a passion for working with kids and young adults. I have many years of experience working as a nanny / babysitter for children ages 1-12, and I volunteered at my universities campus church helping watch toddlers during church services. I also volunteer at a non-profit organization that helps bring awareness to human/child sex trafficking all around the world.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I am so excited to be back at camp as a counselor this upcoming summer! God truly did some amazing, breathtaking things last summer and I am excited to be a part of it once again with all the staff and campers!

Levi Miller

Counselor

Testimony:

I grew up as a pastor's kid. Therefore, I knew who God was all my childhood but I never accepted him as my personal Lord and savior until I was about 12. Currently God has really been giving me opportunities to exercise leadership, I expect he won't stop this summer.

Past Involvement with Youth:

This summer will be my fourth year working at camp, I've also been involved with many of our Church's VBS programs.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

First: I always feel closer to God when I get away from civilization and into his creation.

Second: The amazing staff I get to work with!

Third: I love kids. To be honest, before I worked at camp I wouldn't have said the same. It wasn't that I became immune over the first summer, more like, I found a passion that I didn't know about. I can't wait for another amazing summer!

Malari Lapp

Counselor

Testimony:

I accepted the Lord into my heart at a very young age. When I was little my parents stressed the importance of taking time every day to talk with Him, you think it would be easy to do! There are times when I find myself worrying about everything, I get all wrapped up in the stresses of life and forget the importance of God. However, things are beginning to change. Every day God helps me to remain strong, and through prayer I am learning to trust in Him with my whole heart.

Past Involvement With Youth:

In high school I was a member of the Peer Helpers Club as well as a member of the community youth group where we monitored activities at Vacation Bible School (VBS). I have also had opportunities in the past to work with children at summer camp.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

God brought me back to camp this summer. After working at Penn-York last year, and after witnessing the passion that others can have for God, I decided that I just wasn’t ready to give up being a staff member. I love working with kids, and I love being able to learn about God in a way that also foster’s other’s learning. I look forward to working here again this summer.

Judah herr

Counselor

Tesimony:

I grew up in a strong Christian home. Growing up, I always knew about the gospel, and that Jesus Christ died for me, but it wasn't until about the time I went off to college that it really hit me. By moving away from my parents, I was surrounded by people who made me feel very alone, which made me realize how loved I really am by them. This also made me realize how much the Lord loves me, how he has given me everything. During this stage in my life, God is teaching me patience, not only with people, but with Him as well. I am learning that I need to wait on Him and his plans for me day by day.

Past involvement with Youth:

-One of the leaders of a bible study my senior year in highschool.

-Helped with the nursery at the church I attend.

-Coached 10-12 year old soccer.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to be involved at camp this summer to most of all strengthen my relationship with the Lord. With the Lord working through me, I hope to bring others closer to Him as well. I am looking forward to building new relationships with people, and to learn more through others.

kira metzler

Counselor

Testimony:

I grew up in a loving Christian home and knew the Lord from a young age. He has helped me overcome doubt, depression, and anxiety. I am on a journey of learning to trust God in every situation. Right now I am learning to be patient as I wait for God's guidance in my future plans!

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have helped with nursery and kid's Sunday School at church.

I help with Jr. High at my church's youth group

I have helped younger kids in 4-H

I have five younger siblings!

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I would like more experience working with youth, as youth ministry is one of my areas of interest. I want to better learn how to relate to youth, especially those with rough backgrounds. Most of all, I want to help kids discover God's love for them.

Ethan McKeone

Counselor

Testimony:

I was born and raised in a Christian home, where at around the age of 6, I gave my life to Jesus. At that young age, I really didn’t understand what being a Christian really meant. When I was around 12 or 13, I re-dedicated my life to Jesus after a week at Penn-York Camp. Since then, I have had some struggles like we all do, and I faltered for a bit, somewhat becoming a “lazy Christian” through my high school years. Even through this, God has been helping me become the person he wants me to be, by allowing my faith to become integrated into my whole life. God has been teaching me to trust Him, and to not be afraid of what the outside world might think of me.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I’ve worked as a CIT and counselor here at PYC for the last three years, I’ve helped with my church and some other local church VBS programs, and I’ve done a variety of programs helping kids in my local elementary school.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to be involved at camp for a variety of reasons, the number one reason being I want to share the joy of Christ with others. God’s love is probably the best feeling in the world, and I love to share that with others here at Penn-York Camp. I also want to help be a guide to campers as my counselors were a guide to me when I was a young camper, and help their relationships with God grow in exponential ways.

Emma DeJonge

Counselor

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian home and came to accept Christ as my personal savior at a young age. Since then, my relationship with Jesus Christ has deepened. A few years ago I was in a serious auto accident. Through that experience I developed some fears and anxiety. I am learning that although sometimes hard things happen in life, God is faithful and uses those experiences to draw us closer to him. Somethings are a process…and that’s okay!

Past Involvement with Youth:

I enjoy working with youth and have been active in the past with a number of different activities. I babysit for a couple of families with young boys, have worked as a dance studio assistant, and have volunteered in a Religious Ed. Program for elementary public school

students. I have also enjoyed being part of youth worship teams.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

This will be my third summer working at PYC, where I have been a

CIT in the past. I am looking forward to all the activity and relationships that will be made there. It is exciting to watch campers grow in their faith and be a part of that experience both in group

activities and one on one. I want to be involved with PYC this summer because it is a great opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and spread the good news about Jesus Christ.

I hope that God will use me in whatever doors open. I know I will be blessed and experience God in a fresh way this summer as well!

lauren johnson

Counselor

Testimony:

I have been saved since I was 6 or 7 years old. My relationship with Christ didn’t deepen until I was 14 or 15. I spent a week at Penn-York Camp through a club from Corning, NY and had a realization of how much I needed Jesus. Throughout the next year, I became more involved in my church and developed my faith deeper. Over the next few years, going to camp became more about finding ways to continue the strong relationship I had with God while I was there, throughout the rest of the year. I don’t know where I would be without my relationship with Jesus. At this phase of my life, God has been teaching me obedience. He has shown me consequences of my sin and the joy that comes from obeying his word. It has been a hard, but beautiful journey.

Past Involvement with Youth:

Activities I’ve been involved in involving kids include babysitting since I was 13, vacation bible schools, AWANA (a children’s program), and tutoring elementary children.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I wanted to be involved at camp this summer because I wanted to develop stronger friendships. I also hope to deepen my faith and find ways to continue a strong relationship with God throughout the whole year. Besides this, I’m extremely excited to work with children and teens this summer by being a godly influence.

Katherine forney

Counselor In Training

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian home and have gone to church my entire life. Like a lot of kids, I accepted Jesus into my heart at the age of four. It wasn't until I was thirteen when I realized being a Christian involved more than going to church and reading your Bible. Then I decided to get baptized and to continuously have a relationship with Christ. Lately God has been showing me how much he loves us and will never leave us. He is there in the happiest and darkest times of our lives. With God, he can bring good out of every situation.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have done many things involving youth. At church I help in nursery and toddlers church. I also help at VBS every summer and babysit often.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I have gone to camp for many years and have experienced the love of God through my counselors. This year I hope to spread the love of God and help the campers have a blast at camp just like I did.

javier ardon

Counselor In Training

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian family, so I knew about God from early on, but I began my personal journey with God when I was 12 years old. I went through hardships in my life that tested my faith and I learned to depend on God completely. I learned more about God when I was 15 and decided to work at Penn-York Camp. I learned so much about God’s love there, I decided to devote my life to serving Him and teaching others about His love and mercy.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I served as a CIT at Penn-York Camp last summer. In addition, I am an older brother and have volunteered for my community’s VBS.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

As a camper, my counselors taught me so much about God and His love. For campers this summer, I want to be everything my counselors were for me.

Maddie Miller

Counselor In Training

Testimony:

I've been blessed enough to have been raised in a Christian home, in fact, my Dad was even a pastor for most of my childhood. So, I've always kind of had a knowledge of God and what He's like. But, it wasn't until I was 7 years old that I actually asked him to come into my heart. But, all that really meant to me at that time (and for most of my childhood), was that when I died, I could go to heaven and live with Jesus. And, while that was true, I just didn't get the whole concept of God being Lord over my life and everything. I only started realizing all of that when I was a young teen and I actually started living my life for God rather than myself. And now, I can't imagine my life without God he's my everything! And, at this point in my life, He's teaching me to just let go of everything and just trust Him, especially when I don't understand!

Past Involvement with Youth:

I've had a lot of interaction with kids my whole life. I've helped out with a bunch of various church activities involving kids (e.g. VBS, Children's Church, Sunday School, etc.). I've also done some babysitting (including my younger sister).

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

Accepting Jesus as my Savior was the best decision I've ever made, and I want to let others know that they can have that too. And since I have a passion for kids (and already have several fond memories there from when I attended as a camper), I think that PYC is a perfect place to do that!

peter havens

Counselor In Training

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at a very young age, but didn't quite understand fully until I was about 12. That was when I realized that we are all sinners and are worthy of death, but Jesus died in our place, defeating death. I am still far from perfect, but in Jesus eyes, I am a masterpiece. God is still working in every area of my life and still will be up until the day I go to be with him. Without Jesus, I don't know where I'd be right now, and all the glory is his.

Past Involvement with Youth:

- Coaching little league baseball

- Helping with the church youth group for kids ages 6-12

- Helping with the church VBS

- Watching younger cousins and such.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to be involved with camp this summer because it's one way I can serve The Lord right here. I always love being at camp, and I've kept coming back every summer since I was a day camper. But above everything else, I believe it's what God wants me to do.

joelle havens

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Testimony:

I accepted Jesus when I was six years old, and in recent years I have started asking God to help me grow closer to Him and to show me how much he really loves me. At the time, I felt like I barely knew God, but lately He’s been answering those prayers. I’m starting to realize His love for me, and I feel like I’m way closer to Him now than I’ve ever been. Very often I’m struck by how much I love Him too. I think it’s great to see what God’s been doing in my life, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Past involvement with Youth:

This will be my second year working at Penn York Camp as a C. I.T. I have also helped with our church’s VBS, our church’s kids club called Venture Club, and I’ve babysat for a few families.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I worked here last summer as a Counselor In Training (C.I.T.), and I love Camp! I know it will be a great experience, and I know my relationship with God and my faith in Him will grow this summer as it did last summer! Camp is so much fun, and it’s a great place to learn responsibility.

michael nixon

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Testimony:

I have grown up in a Christian home with very loving parents who wanted what was best for me which was to know God’s Word and to have a personal relationship with Him. For most of my childhood I went through the steps of being a Christian but never accepted Christ as my savior until I was 12 years old. From there I have grown tremendously in  my relationship with God. Now that I have finished with high school, I feel that God is  moving me in a direction where I need start working for Him and doing His will by

working at Penn-York Camp.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have worked as lifeguard at the YMCA for over two years and have taught many children how to swim and be safer around water. I have also spent the past few years  helping teach at my church to the younger kids during Sunday school.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to help kids have a lot of fun over this summer and most importantly, I want to help guide them to become closer with God. I would love to help someone come to  Christ so that they can experience God’s everlasting love. What would make me happiest would to see everyone that comes to camp this summer to have great memories of Penn-York and to have an unforgettable experience.

Grace Herr

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Testimony:

I grew up in a Christian home with six older siblings. I have always attended church on a weekly basis, and have been apart of youth groups. I would call myself a Christian if anyone would ask me, but it wasn't until I was 14 when I truly started pursuing my relationship with Jesus Christ. The moment I felt God's love and presence in me was when I knew I needed to make a change. During camp at PYC of 2015 was when I knew in my heart that I can trust God and that I wanted to know Him. I went to public school that following fall, and went through some hard times with my relationship with God, but now looking back at that past year I really can see a healthy change and growth in myself. God uses hard times to teach and test us. God is currently teaching me to show His love and compassion to

others.

Past involvement with youth:

- Assist with nursery at my church

- Help teach children dance from the ages 7-13

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

When I went to PYC as a camper I grew and learned so much. I always looked up to the staff because they made such great role models of a faithful Christian. I hope to encourage and invest in each camper I meet this summer. Camp is an amazing opportunity to share your faith and hopefully by doing that leading others to God!

noah jones

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Testimony:

I was raised by an awesome Christian family, and have gone to church for all of my life. I accepted Jesus into my heart when I was only five years old. My testimony is the same as many others who are in my scenario: nothing super  exciting. I have walked with God through my whole life, and have struggled with many things, but have gotten through  them with him. Right now, God is guiding me through my teenage years, and I must say, they haven't been easy. God  has walked me through though, and is continuing to guide me through this period of my life.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I live with two younger brothers, and a younger sister that my family adopted from China. That alone has been a ton of experience, as being the oldest, I end up in charge of them a lot of the time. I also have assisted in running a children's group at Yorks Corners Church.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I have been coming to camp ever since I was old enough. I have always wanted to work here, and help kids the same way previous staff has helped me. I can't wait to come this summer, and help kids, learn what it means to work at camp, and most importantly, grow with God.

Savannah gibble

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Testimony:

I was born and raised in a Christian home where it was very easy to love and serve God. Only in the last year have I realized His impact and protection in my life. My faith has become so much more than a mandatory dinner and nighttime prayer. God is teaching me about myself through him. Prayer has become a continuous conversation. I so glad to say my faith and belief's have become real to me.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have done a lot of volunteering through Cavod, a Christian Arts Academy. Through Cavod I have been the Assistant Crafts Director for a preschool summer camp. I have also had the opportunity to interact with children as different characters in multiple theatre events.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to be involved in PYC because it has made such a large impact on my life. I have been attending PYC for as long as I can remember. Every single one of my counselors have made an impression on my faith. I wish to return those gifts and spend my summer doing something I'm passionate about.

caroline wise

CIT

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian home. But, like many others, I didn't truly realize the entirety of God and his awesomeness until my early teens. My world has changed drastically and suddenly throughout the past few years, which thankfully has pulled me even closer to him. God has done incredible things in my life, and through my struggles and pain I know that He is always good. Though many times I wish I could change what has happened in the past, I am so thankful for the things that these experiences have taught me, and now for my ability to reach out to others going through similar

situations. At this point in my life, a huge struggle for me is learning that I can't do it all on my own. I am a very independent person, and sometimes it's hard for me to trust in God and his capabilities when it comes to my own life, but I am slowly learning to lean on him and people he provides for me.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have an enormous passion for working with children and teens. I love being able to grow, learn, and laugh alongside of them. I have been a part of vacation bible school teachings, as well as leading the "children's moments" at my own church. I have also worked at Penn York before, and babysit regularly.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I am incredibly excited to be back at Penn York Camp this year, as it is such an enormous honor to follow in the footsteps of the incredible staff who, in the past, helped me grow and become the person I am today. God has opened my eyes to so many new things through PYC, and I hope that I can contribute to the loving and passionate atmosphere that is Penn York Camp.

Charis zdrojewski

Kitchen: Food Preparation

Testimony:

I grew up in a christian home and got saved when I was really young (maybe 7is). I went to church/Sunday School every week, memorized Bible verses, and read my Bible almost every day. But it wasn't until I hit my teen years I finally started to live out my faith and love God for who He was and not just because it was something I was taught to do growing up. Like any teenager, I had struggles (and still do) about where God was leading me, what He wants me to do, and trusting Him through hard times. But by trusting God my faith was strengthened and love for Him grew deeper. Right now I feel like God is teaching me how to be a better sister/daughter, living every moment for Him, and also learning to see me how He sees me.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have served as a camp counselor (not at PYC) in the past. I have also helped with VBS, church nursery, and have experience babysitting.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I want to serve and grow closer to God.

Adrian Page

Lifeguard

Testimony:

Growing up in a Christian home, I accepted God at a young age, but I never really made my religion into a relationship until much more recently. A few years ago I had a moment where I realized how loving God is and that I couldn't go through life on my own. My relationship with Him has been developing ever since. At this point in time, God is teaching me to allow myself to accept help from others.

Past involvement with Youth:

These past two summers, I worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Coudersport Town Pool. I also have helped with childcare at my church and as a babysitter for a few families in my area.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I have attended events at Penn-York since I was three, so it feels like a second home. Penn-York has always been a place that has inspired emotional and spiritual growth in me, and I feel that God is calling me to work there this summer.

lydia ternes

Lifeguard

Testimony:

I got saved at the age of about six. Although I grew up as a pastor's kid, I didn't fully understand everything about the Christian life until I became a teenager. I have my ups and downs but want to grow deeper in the Christian life as I keep getting older.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I've babysat when I was young. I have 2 younger siblings and 2 nephews that I watch often. I've helped with dance classes for ages 4 and up, and have given swimming lessons to kids ages 2-15.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I have worked here before as a CIT and it was the best summer I've ever had. I not only made friends, I grew in the Lord every day. I want that experience again, and want a daily encouragement to read and spend time with the Lord.

Amber lewis

Maintenance

Testimony:

Growing up in a Christian home with Christian parents, I came to know Jesus as my personal Savior at a very young age. Since then, God has been teaching me many things as I grow closer to Him. Lately, He has been teaching me a lot about patience, friendships, and to trust in Him no matter what because He always knows what is best and desires the very best for each and every one of His children.

Past Involvement with Youth:

For the past several summers, I have enjoyed helping with my church’s Vacation Bible School as a worship leader and game-time helper. I have also occasionally taught Children’s Church and Sunday School and am one of four worship leaders at my church. I am also a part of an amazing youth group and help with most of the planning for our trips and outings.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

I went to Penn-York as a camper for 8 years and really came to love the environment there and made the decision that one day I was going to work there. In the past couple of years however, my desire to work at camp has become even more than that. I want to serve God by serving others and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I look forward to every day of working at camp this summer serving God in the beautiful environment He created!

Testimony:

I have grown up in a Godly home all my life. At 12 years of age I made my own commitment to God and was baptized the same year. As a believer I try to live my life for the glory of God. I am not saying I have not had trials in my walk because I have, but with God to help me I have been able to strive for God. I am not saying I am perfect now, for God is helping me to trust Him. I am currently learning humility, thinking of others, Bible Study, and prayer. I am not perfect now, but by the grace of God I am going to be perfect.

Past Involvement with Youth:

I have helped with our church nursery, VBS, and other such things. I have also worked at Penn-York Camp during the 2016 Summer.

Why do you want to be involved this summer at PYC?

Ever since I was old enough I came to Penn-York as a camper. As I work at Penn-York it is not just for the work itself, but to give the campers of the week and amazing experience just like I had when I went to camp.
